Successful Town Lake Park Work Day

We had a very successful volunteer morning at Town Lake Park thanks to an impromptu partnership with Triangle Rails to Trails (TRTC). The weather was beautiful, poison ivy was dormant and there were no pesky bugs. Bill Busey, TRTC vice-president and Pittsboro area resident, was able to round up some great people on short notice from Morrisville, Cary and Chapel Hill to help beautify our park. Town Commissioner Hugh Harrington lent a welcome hand as did Dee Reid from our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Many thanks to you all!

Most of our energy was devoted to clearing honeysuckle and greenbriar entangled in trees around a newly installed cedar bench. This created a new vista to the lake and helped highlight the pin oak shown in the photo below. I had a lot of fun and envision more of these productive outings in the future. Please contact me to get on a mailing list for future volunteer opportunities.
